What Causes Dark Red Menstrual Bleeding?

I just got my period 39 days after my last, so it was a week late. Now my period is dark red blood. Normally its bright red blood. I thought i was pregnant at first but had two negative tests and then got my period today. Any thoughts on the dark blood?

it is not pregnancy. it can be hormonal imbalance. get your self examined and investigated by gyneic specialist. co lour of menstrual blood does not indicate any disease. what is your age and marital status. you should give your real desire and specify problem so that proper advise for investigation and treatment can be given.
