What Causes Dark Spots And Dryness Of Lips?

Hi, for the past 2 weeks I've noticed that my bottom lip is turning black and very dry. When I lick them, I can feel something like very tiny bumps along the edge. There are black spots on my entire bottom lip. Normally my lip color is a very faint pink because of my Indian heritage but it is never this dark. I was just wondering what could possibly cause this. I'm 19 and I do not smoke.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dark spots along with dryness of lips and formation of tiny bumps seems to be probably due to causes like Allergic reaction, side effects of medicines, bacterial or Fungal infection, Viral infection causing Cold Sores, chapped lips due to severe dehydration, sun blisters etc..

I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of scraping of the lips, blood tests etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly...

As of now start applying Petroleum jelly over the lips as it helps in locking moisture over the lips and prevent dryness..
You can start doing cool compresses over the lips..
Apply beeswax containing lip balm..
Exfoliate your lips with a gentle scrub..
