What Causes Dark Spots On The Neck When Diagnosed With Dermatitis?

I HAVE DARK SPOTS ON MY NECK. I WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH DERMITITIS. I am african american. My age is 76. I was told by me Dermitologist to that I have dermititis and should wear sun screen above the spf of 50 spf and above. I am checking on this. My spots, which I call dark bloches is not a rash. It is a sking discoloration and it is just on my neck. There is no itching, or blisters. Just skin discoloration. Gloria

Hi,

Well dermatitis can cause inflammation and it can lead to dark spots that can be Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. You should however once consult a skin specialist and get evaluated to confirm it is just pigmentation and nothing else.

If it is pigmentation then you can apply Kojic acid gel/cream over it. Use salicylic acid containing facewash. Scrub twice a week using a face scrub. Chew a vitamin C pellet daily. Always use sunscreen lotion when going out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
