What Causes Dark Upper Thighs While On BP Medication?

I have dark upper thighs that almost look the color or brusing, but is not in just one stop as if I bumped against something. I have been to Disney World and did a lot of walking for 4 days. it was on the 4th day that I noticed the darkening and discoloration. I am 62 years old and in good health. Only take blood pressure medication. I still work at as a elected official at a courthouse, so I work at a desk and office work, but I spend about 70 per cent of my work day on my feet and walking a lot. Should I be concerned about the darkness?

Hi,

Darkening or discoloration of the upper thighs can be caused by various factors, including medications, poor circulation, and skin conditions. Blood pressure medication can sometimes cause changes in the skin, including discoloration or darkening, as a side effect. However, it is important to rule out other possible causes as well. Poor circulation can cause the skin on the upper thighs to appear darker, and certain skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis, can also cause discoloration.

If you have been walking for extended periods, it is possible that the discoloration could be due to the increased pressure on the thighs. This type of discoloration is usually temporary and should resolve on its own.

If the discoloration persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as pain, swelling, or itching, it is important to see a doctor for further evaluation. Your doctor may perform a physical examination and run tests to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Depending on the cause of the discoloration, treatment options may include topical medications, lifestyle changes, or adjustments to your medication regimen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
