What Causes Darkness On The Face After Stopping Steroid Cream Application?

Hello, I ve been using a topical steroid cream on my face as my daily moisturizer and when I stopped using the ointment my face broke out in a bad rash and became extremely dark!!! Eventually the rash cleared up, but my face is extremely dark and dehydrated! I have to moisturize my skin within seconds after washing it or it will become very tight to the point I can t move my face and also extremely dry to the point it turns white! What is going on?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of darkness on the face after stopping steroid cream application which is very common.

I would suggest you give cold compresses to your face several times a day and apply kojic acid cream. If symptoms still persist the consulting dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. The doctor may perform skin test and challenge to find out the trigger factor. The doctor may prescribe other steroid creams (mometasone), anti-inflammatory drug or drugs that can suppress the immune system . Herbal tea and aloe vera gel are also very helpful. Stay in a cool and moist environment.
