What Causes Debilitating Headaches In A Person With Benign Brain Tumor?
I have been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor which is causing debilitating headaches. The neurosurgeon said to stay on top of pain and to see G.P. I did and was told to take advil. Never had an issue with drug/alcohol addiction but our town is dealing with a lot of fentynal overdoses. I m ready to do anything but Donot know how to relieve pain and it s giving me bad thoughts. Just to follow up I went to emerg today. Spent 8 hrs there. At hr 4 they gave me toradal, benadryl and liquid steroid. It did nothing. My spouse went to dr and said I m really not doing well. So they reluctantly gave me a small dose of morphine. This gave me a very slight relief but still in extreme pain. How do I make them understand. I m told they just can t get rid of headaches. And I find that impossible. This headache is not a migraine. I m about to do something drastic. I can t stand this pain. I can count my heart beats from the pounding.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The headache is probably due to benign brain tumor. Has the headache started after being diagnosed with benign brain tumor? It is important to rule out other causes of headache, however, looking at your history it is evident that this headache is due to brain tumor. The pain needs to be managed with regular pain killers, however, if it is not relieved by regular pain killers opioids (e.g. morphine) may have to be used. Please consult your neurosurgeon regarding operability of the benign tumors. Since, the tumor seems to be the cause of pain, its surgical removal is the definitive treatment. I suggest you to consult your neurosurgeon regarding this.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
