What Causes Decreased Thirst?

What can cause decreased thirst? I have had some problems with my gallbladder until I changed my diet. My thirst has been cut in half suddenly. I had a slight urinary tract infection that has been cleared up for 2 months and the decreased thirst started immediately after this. My Dr has said, don t worry about it. I believe the majority of his med training was not in this country.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
You have not described how much decrease of your thirst there. A regular intake of 1.5-2l is sufficient. Again body fulfill the need by another liquids contained in your diet. So mild decrease of your thirst may be normal.
But sudden severe decrease of thirst may indicate serious conditions like Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone, hydrocephalus, tumor in hypothalamus, stroke, head injury, liver disease. You have not described whether you have associated headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle weakness etc as they indicate different conditions.
If you are suffering from such kind of problems for a long time and increasing in nature, kindly consult a doctor as there may be underlying serious conditions.
