What Causes Decreasing Body Temperature During Night While Treating Pneumonia?

My daughter has a normal temp during the day but it it dropping to about 96 at night. She is currently on meds for pneumonia and is acting close to her normal self. She had been dropping down for three nights now, but back to normal in the day. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The narrated temperature range does not indicate gross variation from the normal thermo-regulation set point. There may be couple of reasons to get this type of changes in body as
- extra dose of anti pyretic syrup or suspension which may be consumed during evening hours.
- Loss of body fluid with secondary effects of renal function and indirectly heart rate
- side effect of particular antibiotic used to control pneumonia
- Do discuss the need of alterations in any current medications for betterment of the issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
