What Causes Deep And Painful Indentation On Buttocks?

I noticed a deep indentation on my left butt cheek today. I have been having severe pain in this area for awhile with pain in my outer thigh, knee, calf and top of foot. It feels as if the pain is in the bone. I am diabetic (LADA), for 5 years. I am 60 years old. 5 2 height and 150 lbs.

Hi. Two explainations are possible. If your diabetes is uncontrolled you could be having a form of neuropathy which is associated with loss of muscle which will reverse in few months with good sugar control. The other explaination is if you have injected insulin the area. Lipoatrophy is also seen like lipohypertrophy. Change the area and wait. Have you been given any intramuscular injections in the area? In any case just control your diabetes and take a tablet of pregabalin 75 mg at night. I am not certain if the fat cells can be restored but it will surely take care of your pain. Take care.
