Thank you for your query
Would you please clarify a few things for me?
1)are your cycles regular?
2)did you have an ultrasound of your pelvis? (to detect
Polycystic ovaries)
3)does anyone in your family have Polycystic ovaries or other
Infertility problems?
The chances of a woman your age conceiving with no fertility problems, regular cycles and regular intercourse is 25% in any given month. This drops to about 15% after you turn 30yrs old.
I recommend you keep trying for the next 3-4 months (regular intercourse between the 10 to 20th day, if you have a regular cycle of approximately 30days). Start taking folic acid supplements (ideally started 3 months before you try to conceive and continued till your second trimester).
Maintain healthy weight (for your BMI-
body mass Index. if overweigt/obese, even a 2-5 kg reduction can jump start your normal cycles and hormonal patters) and active lifestyle, reduce caffeine intake. Your husband should do the same (also quit smoking and excessive alcohol intake if he does so) . Manage stress adequately.
If your cycles are irregular or you don't get pregnant after 4 months, see your
OBGYN who can regulate your cycles with medications or do a
follicular study to see if all is OK. If you have PCOS, it is better to seek treatment sooner than later.
You can expect to be given medications that will regulate your follicular development, and ovulation (key factor to conceive) and medication to support a possible pregnancy (if required). This involves a series of doctors visits and scan to assess your follicular development.
Certain hormone imbalances (thyroid hormone) can also interfere with conception. This can be checked by a simple blood test
Shelcal is a
calcium supplement which is usually given for people who are deficient in the mineral and to supplement increased demands during pregnancy and
breastfeeding.
It will happen, just be patient and do not self medicate. Find a good doctor/fertility specialist and follow her advice. Discuss all your options before deciding. You are young and have plenty of options.
Hope I've been helpful. Please get back to us if you need further clarification
Wish you good health
