There are different causes for delayed period such as : (1) high levels of a hormone called prolactin
(2)emotional distress or illness
(3)abnormal levels of the thyroid hormone
(4)physical illness
(5)polycystic ovarian syndrome
(6)inadequate diet or excess physical activity
You may need blood tests (prolactin and thyroid hormone for example) and imaging (ultrasound) to find the cause of the delay
