What Causes Delay In Period Despite Having Negative UPT?
I am just coming off norethindrone. I had my period 3 days after for a total of 9 days. Now, a month later I am a week late. I am trying to get pregnant and took 3 pregnancy tests which have all been negative. How long with my body take to regulate? Could I be pregnant and it just isn t showing up?
If the test was done too early then it is possible that the result is falsely negative.
Pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy by day 11 to 14 after conception, if the test was done before this time then it should be repeated but if it was done after, then it is a true picture.
It can take months after discontinuation of contraception for periods to regularize in some persons.
There are other causes of delayed periods such as: (1) emotional stress or illness (2)physical illness (3)thyroid disease (4)high levels of the prolactin hormone (5)PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)
Blood tests and imaging can check for these.
I hope this helps
