What Causes Delay In Periods Along With Cramps And Pain On Left Side Of Abdomen?

Hello there, I am 3 days late on my period. I have been experiencing heavy cramping and pain that comes and goes on my left side. I have a burning sensation in my abdomen. My period has never been late and I recently had a miscarriage may 1st. I took a pregnancy test and came out negative. What do you think could be wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
The symptoms you are experiencing could be due to two reasons:
1. Premenstrual cramps.
2. Ectopic pregnancy.
You can take analgesics antispasmodic medication containing Mefinemic acid to overcome your dysmenorrhea due to premenstrual cramps.
In case it doesn't get better, it is advisable to undertake a Urine Pregnancy Test again followed by Ultrasound Abdomen and Pelvis scan.
Kindly consult Gynecologist with report for further management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
