What Causes Delay In Periods And Diarrhea Despite Having Negative UPT?

Hi, I m 21 and have been having an irregular period since I was 15. I had unprotected sex 5 weeks ago when it was the day before my period ended. My period hadn t started and I took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and came back negative but I happened to get diarrhea today. Could there be a chance I am pregnant?

Hi there and thanks for using HCM.

I am afraid I need to be frank and tell you that unprotected sex can almost always result in pregnancy in young, healthy couples, even though you had it during your period. Also, urine pregnancy test kits are never 100% accurate.

However, period cycles can be affected by many factors in your life; your diet, activity and stress level as well as weight changes can affect your period. I can understand that you must be feeling extremely stressed and anxious - this too can delay your period. The diarrhea may or may not be related to you getting your period soon or even falling pregnant.

If there is still no period in a week, you should see your regular doctor for a blood test; serum Beta-HCG - this is the most accurate way to test for pregnancy.
