What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative HPT Results?

Hi I am a 34 year old female. The past 2-3 months I haven t been religious with my birth control. I should ve began my period Tuesday-Wednesday. I haven t gotten it yet. I ve taken 3 home pregnancy tests, which were all negative. In general is there a high possibility I m pregnant? Also is it ok to skip a period once in a while?

Hi,

It takes at least 10 days after your missed period, for urine test to detect pregnancy and in some women even more than 10 days. Kindly repeat the test 10 days after your missed period date. Blood hCG level can also be done since it detects pregnancy earlier than urine pregnancy test. Due to many factors, periods may be delayed even in the absence of pregnancy. Since your pills taking pattern has changed, delay in periods is possible. The cycle will normalize in the following months.
