What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Having Negative UPT?

Hello,i would like u to help me pls .my girlfriend and i had dry sex long back but now her periods are delayed by 16days more we used pregnancy testing device but we bymisticaly used it in afternoon the report was negative then we waited for 4 hours then tested again with a new device again result was negative.so what could be delaying her periods? And can i relay on this devices because i tried it twice and it was negative .thankyou

Hi,

Absence of periods can be due to lot of reasons, hormonal imbalance being the commonest among them. If the pregnancy test is negative then you don't need to consider pregnancy as the reason. I would advise you to wait for a few more days and if it doesn't come then you may visit a gynecologist and seek treatment for the same. This condition is very common and there is absolutely no need to worry. Pl note that undue stress is also one of the reasons for that.
