What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Taking Althea Pills?
Hi. I gave birth via cesarean section last February 28, 2016. On march 27 and 28, I had bleeding but im not sure if it was menstruation or the excess. Then I had an intercourse with my husband 2 times and we used withdrawal method one in April and june. on June 15, I started taking Althea pills. I did not have any period since march 28. I am afraid to get pregnant that early but the pullout method was the one we were using since 2 years ago and it worked fine. What could be the problem if there is any? thank you
Periods may be delayed or not come for some months after delivery, especially if the woman is breastfeeding. On the other hand, it is best to have a urinary pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy first.
If the test is negative then you are not pregnant and a safer way of preventing pregnancy is needed as the withdrawal method has a low protection rate against pregnancy (it is not safe to rely on it).
Althea is a contraceptive pill that provides a high protection rate against pregnancy and I would recommend you use it regularly and according to the instructions in the leaflet.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
