What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Taking Postinor-2 After Sex?

Hi, I normally have an irregular menstrual cycle. I had sex a day or two before my expected period and the condom broke while he was trying to pull out. This was around 11pm. At about 9 the next morning, I took postinor 2. The very next day, I experienced brown spottings. My period is yet to come and I m getting worried. What does this mean?

I can understand your concern.

Delayed period could be due to hormonal imbalance following intake of Positnor-2 or it can also be due to pregnancy.
Irregular bleeding or spotting can occur as a side effect following the use of post coital contraceptive pills like Positnor-2 until your next period.

Positnor-2 can change the length of your monthly menstrual cycle, making your next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual.

Since Positnor-2 is 85% effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy even it is taken within 12 hours of an unprotected sexual act.

If your period is more than 5 days late you may consider getting a home pregnancy test.
