What Causes Delay In Periods Despite Using Contraceptives?

I had my implanon removed on march 29, 2016, and had a new one put in on the second. My last period was march 25th, and I me and my fiance had sex a couple hours after I got the birth control removed and replaced. Needless to say I haven t had a period yet this month for April yet, if I don t have one should I do a pregnancy test or is it just because of the birth control?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The time period of unprotected sex sounds to be in co relation with underlying effect of contraceptive protection of implanon device. The absence of menses is due to hormone changes through the same. I would request for a period of 5-7 days before considering urinary pregnancy test.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
