What Causes Delay In Periods Inspite Of Taking Ipill After Having Sex?

hi sir i m married and had sex on 9th then took i pill within 12 hours. my periods were on 15th but still i m not getting it. i had performed pregnency test at home after 7 days i mean on 16th. i m feeling head reeling and pain in my lower abdomen as i get before periods. so m i pregnent or i pill has delayed my periods sir? pl suggest

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

First of all there is nothing to worry as you have taken the emergency pill within 12 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse. So most probably your periods are delayed. Only Less than 5 percent chances of pregnancy is there.
Taking iPill can cause early or delayed bleeding in most women taking it. This abnormal bleeding is due to high dose of hormone levonorgestrel 1.5 mg contained in iPill. Hence your period might be early or late for next two cycles. This is a known side effect of taking iPill. It is not possible to tell exactly when you will have it.
Please use condoms or other methods of contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy in future. More intake of i[pill is not desired. Taking more than one iPill in 3 months can cause serious side effects like ovarian cysts, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, irregular cycles and infertility.

If you do not get periods even after a week then do a home pregnancy test with first morning urine sample .
