Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Delay In Periods Inspite Of Taking Contraceptives?
Yes, you can. I missed a week of my birth control pills, because I ran out of packages (or at least thought I did until I found my last package before I get another refill) I started taking them once a day as I always did, but I did have unprotected sex within the first week of taking them. My period was suppose to start yesterday or today but my pills are not on schedule now because I missed that one week. Should I take a pregnancy test? Or should I wait another week to just see if my period is delayed?
Hello, I really appreciate your concern. You have not mentioned how many pills you had taken from this months pack. If you have taken all the tablets even if during the expected days of menstruation then your periods will be delayed for one week.
If you have missed contraceptive pills during first week and did not taken missed dose during the expected days of menstruation then I advise you to take pregnancy test using Urine Pregnancy Testing kit available in the market. It is always better to rule out a pregnancy than to wait for periods.
Hope my answer has solved your query. Take Care. Thank you.
