Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Decapeptyl is given in
Endometriosis to stop the development of the endometrial tissue with continued use.
This means that when the endometrium doesn't develop, period does not occur once the medicine starts to have the desired effect (in 2-3 months).
It is this endometrium (usually found only in the
uterus but grows outside the uterus in Endometriosis) that Is shed every month during your period.
This medication can also harm your baby, if you are pregnant. Please consult your
OBGYN if you suspect a
pregnancy.
Other modes of
contraception, like a Condom, is advised to prevent pregnancy while on this medication.
Your period will not occur till you stop this medication. If you plan to get pregnant, please talk to your doctor. Pregnancy protects you from Endometriosis till delivery, by controlling the relevant hormones.
If your prescribed dosage is over, you may get your period in 3-6 months.
Hope I've answered your query.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with
Wish you good health
