What Causes Delay In Periods With Cyst In Ovary?

I am a 42 year old female who was diagnosed with a 2.4 cm cyst on my left ovary two months ago. I have since had an ultrasound and was told it was shrinking but I am two weeks late for my period. No chance of pregnancy but concerned about missed period.
