What Causes Delay In Periods?

Hi doctor am 22yrs old i had intercourse with my fiancee bt he didn insert d sperm jel but my periods got 12 days late this month.i've done home pregnancy test its negative only. Am worrid abt ths and always my periods on clock tel me doctor wat can b other reason ?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Delayed periods can occur due to many reasons.
Pregnancy is the most common cause of amenorrhea.
However, since the pregnancy test is negative, pregnancy is ruled out.
If the inrregular or delayed periods continue for long, you have to get hormonal status done.
Thus, you can monitor your cycles for some more months.
If the periods still remain irregular then probably this is due to hormonal imbalances.
You will need to consult your gynecologist if the cycles still remain irregular.
