HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Pregnancy tests detect the HCG hormone. This hormone is released in increasing amounts as pregnancy progresses.
It is normally detectable by day 11 to 14 after a baby has been conceived. If the test is done before day 11 to 14, then it may not give a true result.
By day 14 of your missed period, you should be pass this point and the result is likely accurate and you are not pregnant at this time.
If you are not sure, then you should wait a few days and repeat.
There are other causes of delayed period such as: (1) high levels of a hormone called
prolactin, a
blood test can check for this
(2)emotional stress
(3)abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, again detectable by bloods
(4)side effect of medication
(5)physical illness
(6)inadequate diet or excess physical activity
(7)
polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Also requires blood tests and
ultrasound to take a look at the ovaries
I hope this helps
