What Causes Delayed Healing After Tooth Extraction?

On June 23rd I had a tooth pulled and was lucky enough to get dry socket. It still has not healed and the pain is almost unbearable. I went back to the dentist about 10 days after the extraction and all they did for me was to put clove oil on a piece of gauze and told me to bite down. The amount of Tylenol and Advil I have gone through is worrisome. What should i do? Do i go back to the dentist or should i go to the ER

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain in case of Dry Socket it is correct that the dentist places a Zinc oxide eugenol dressing in the socket after irrigation with hydrogen peroxide, betadine and normal saline solution and the dressing is changed every alternate day till the healing occur considerably..
Along with it you are been prescribed anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen but if pain is severe you can also take Ultram (Tramadol) and broad spectrum antibiotics like Augmentin 625 mg and Pantoprazole 40 mg is also given to avoid infection ..

You can consult an Oral Surgeon in case if you do not get relief..

Hope you get well soon..

In your case also the same has to be followed
