Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Delayed Language Development In Child?
Hi, My daughter is 2 year 10 months of age, she goes to pre nursery school, she speaks words like apple, ball, come and go, different names but she is not speaking up complete sentences or whole rhymes, she gives directions and understands our language.Pls suggest the way we can make her speak whole sentences.
Usually, by about 3 years children are able to speak small sentences and ask simple questions.
If all other milestones are normally developed(like walking, running and understanding things) and she is able to listen and follow when we speaks, we need not worry. In some children, language development delays a bit behind other milestones.
As she is only 2 year 10 months, and is able to pronounce words, we can wait for 6 months. Also, try to talk her more and engage in conversations more frequently. Tell her stories, limit screen time.
If there is no improvement by 6 months, kindly have a sitting with her pediatrician and a speech therapist for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
