Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 35 yrs old.periods cycle 30- 36 days and .This month it is 40 days now.Pregnancy ruled out in my case.I have a holiday plan in a couple of week.Tensed now that my periods should finish before that.plz advice me on how to get my periods by next week.
To delay periods, you can take Norethisterone (5mg)(Primolut N and Utovlan). Commonly three tablets a day are prescribed, starting 3 to 4 days before you expect your period to begin and continue taking it till you don't want periods but it should not be taken for more than ten to fifteen days to avoid side effects.
You should start bleeding two to four days after you stop taking the pills. It should not be taken if you are suffering from liver tumours, breast cancer, a history of jaundice or severe vascular disease. If you had or are at the risk of angina, a heart attack or a stroke caused by a blood clot, you should avoid taking Norethisterone.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
