hello, my period cycle has always been a bit off but it usually happens every month, i have been on an antidepressant and a ADHD medication for about 4 years now and it has not effected my cycle at all, however recently this past month i was off my ADHD medication for about 6 days including 3 days off my antidepressant during the same 6 days. during those days i gained alot of weight because of impulse eating about 10 pounds, i am now 33 days past my next peroid mark how long should i wait until my period to arrive before i see a doctor?

Hi,

The weight gain is secondary to side effect of the anti depressant medication in form of selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors or else. Though not common, but still menstrual delay is also related to drug effect on hypothalamus pitutary axis hormone secretion only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
