What Causes Delayed Period After Having Protected Sex?

Me and my boyfriend had sex for the first time... a few days before my expected period. We used a condom and even after checking it had not broken or torn although he did release inside of it. I ve been anxiously awaiting my period before and now it s 3 days late. Is the stress preventing it s arrival? Or is it more likely I m pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
since this was your first time and you do not want to get pregnant stress will play an important part.
there is a slight chance of failure with any contraception method be it condom or any other pills. i would suggest you to wait for two to three more days for your period and even then if you still do not get your period i would suggest an urine pregnancy test to be done to rule out pregnancy.
if you regularly get into physical relationship its better to use oral contraceptive pills which are the most effective and give highest protection rates.
hope you are satisfied with the response. thanks for choosing HCM.
