Hi,
Depo Provera
contraceptive injection contains
medroxyprogesterone, a natural female hormone, progesterone that is used to prevent unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses and treat menstrual periods associated problems. If someone continues to take Depo Provera contraceptive injection, her menstrual periods become fewer, lighter or totally absent. This is quite normal. After one year of using Depo Provera, more than half of all women stop having their menstrual cycles.
So, lack of menstrual periods that are known as amenorrhea is a common side effects of this medication and having no menstrual periods doesn't indicate someone is pregnant. Depo Provera contraceptive injection also may abdominal distension,
abdominal bloating, indigestion, heartburn,
abdominal pain, GIT upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or
constipation, changes in body weight etc. If these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should inform your first for medical attention.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
