What Causes Delayed Period While On Meprate?

Hi my wife is getting irregular periods from last 3 months. Recently she met a doctor and she suggested meprate tablets for 5 days. Tablets got completed last 6 days back. Still not getting periods. If not is there confirmation chances to get pregnant.

Meprate belongs to a group of medicines known as tranquilisers and sedatives. It is used in the short-term treatment for the symptoms
of anxiety states.

If your wife is not having periods after meprate therapy, then the following things need to be ruled out:
1. Pregnancy - urine pregnancy test (UPT) or serum beta-HCG levels will help in confirming this.
2.Thyroid hormone deficiency - Thyroid profile to exclude hypothyroidism.
3. The medicine itself can cause a delay in periods sometimes due to side effect.
4. Severe anemia - Get her hemoglobin levels checked.

You need an evaluation by a Gynecologist with the reports of investigations to detect as there are various causes for this delay in periods. Once the cause is confirmed, she can be treated accordingly.
