What Causes Delayed Periods After Removal Of Precancerous Cells From Cervix?
I had precancerous cells removed from my cervix a few years ago & recently have been having an odd yellowish-brown discharge. I m 50 & haven t been through menopause yet, but I realize it s been at least a few months since my last period. Should I be concerned?
Since you are in menopausal phase, the yellowish brown discharge may be indicative of perimenopause (atrophic vaginitis). However, sometimes it can also be due to Bacterial vaginosis. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynae so that BV may be confirmed. BV is treated with clindamycin or metronidazole depending on the severity of the pathology detected. You can take vitamin E (400mg), once daily after food for 15 days to stay fit & feel better. Take care of your hygiene, wear cotton clothes, do not douche. Take probiotics and food rich in minerals & vitamins.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
