Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was sex my bf in 10/oct/2016 in evening in unprotected sex and next day I am taking i-pill in 11:00AM (11/oct/2016) then I am pregnency test using Prega News in 4 days later in morning. The prega news test is negative. but 10/oct/2016 is my period day but my period is delay more then 6 days . I am so much tensed. am I pregnant?
The I Pill is a large dose of progestin which is a hormone similar to the hormone of pregnancy (progesterone) and can throw off the normal cycle. So the period can come early, late, be lighter or heavier. This irregularity can sometimes last for a couple of months.
In terms of taking a pregnancy test, a urine pregnancy test usually does not detect much until about 2 weeks after ovulation which is when, if pregnant, the expected period is missed. And if it is negative then but there is a high suspicion for pregnancy, then it should be retaken 1 week later.
I see that you are asking about 2016 and it is now 2019. I do not understand - did you write your question 3 years ago?
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
