What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Contraceptive Pills?

Hi Doc, I am a 42-year-old woman. I have two children. Delivered the last one seven years ago. I have had one abortion after that.

We use condoms as protection. Last month since I felt the condom had ruptured, I had taken an emergency contraceptive within 72 hours. However, i have not got my period this month. There was some brown spotting for three days then nothing. I did a home pregnancy test when i had the spotting and it was negative. Should I do it again? I don't want a pregnancy. Could it be something else? Should I see a doctor?
