What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Loss Of Appetite While On Depo Shot?

Hello. I have been on the Depo shot for about a little over 2 years now. I always had my period. For the past few months I have not and for about a week I have been having pregnancy symptoms. I cannot even eat meat. Could I possibly be pregnant? I was told if you lose a lot of weight the effects of the Depo are decreased. I lost over 50 pounds

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query to us.
I have read your query & understood your concern.
- depo provera is known to cause menstrual irregulariies/ no menses at all. Mensaes tend to stop after it's prolonged use. Depo provera being a long acting dose of hormone..can produce symptoms like bloating, nausea
_ depo provera has 99% efficacy in birth control There are practically no chances of conception when regularly on depo provera.
Still , if you have doubt, you can get it cleared by pregnancy test.
* I would advise you to have abreak in using depo provera -- as it has a side effect of weakening bones. So a break with use of some other contraceptive is desired .
thanks.
