What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Menstrual Cramps Post Intake Of I Pill?
Hi i took an ipill on 10th august because of which the periods that were due on 6th september got delayed to 17th sept. I was now expecting my periods on 17th october, but I haven t got it yet. I face menstrual cramps, back ache, calf muscle pain etc. But no signs of periods yet. Can it be due to ipill? What should I do next?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. i pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of having unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, the protection seems to be better. It would protect from pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding just like periods within 3 weeks from the day of intake of pills. In case you do not get periods within 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately. Kindly consult Gynecologist and get evaluated at the earliest as the chances of failure to protect against pregnancy by emergency contraceptive pill seems to be between 10 to 15%. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
