What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Mild Abdominal Cramping On Withdrawal From IUD?
Hi, I have a question. After my third baby was born in June 2013 I had the Mirena IUD put in. I was on it until Feb 2015. This entire time I was also breastfeeding my daughter and I didn t have a period at all. A week after removal I started taking birth control pills, which I m still on at the moment. Now, 5 months after IUD removal I still barely have any bleeding during my period. It s about 2 days long and probably 1 oz of pink colored blood with very mild or non existent cramping. What s going on? I d like to get pregnant again but am worried that my lining is too thin. What are your thoughts? Thank you.
Hi welcome to Healthcare Magic. As you must be aware, along with the effectiveness of medicine there are side effects too. But they are not seen in all individuals. However, sometimes irregular periods, less flow, heavy flow are known side effects in patients taking birth control pills. I see a lot of patients having similar complaints everyday at my clinic. So relax, your lining is healthy. Try for pregnancy if you want another baby. Do write to me if you have any more queries. I'll be happy to help you. Wishing you good health and a very healthy pregnancy :) Regards, Dr. Anuja
