What Causes Delayed Periods Followed By Heavy Bleeding?
Hello Doctor I am 22 and married .My periods were supposed to start on 1st September 2016 as per my regular menstrual cycle.i was late and I had chikengunya fever on 7th September 2016. I took crin ncr 10 mg on 11september 2016 and continued it for a week till 17 september.i took it twice daily. On 22 September I started my periods at 10 pm. I had a heavy mucous flow. Please tell me if everything is all right with me and what next could be done so that I have regular periods. Thanks
Because you had irregular bleeding it is always advisable to have a urinary pregnancy test.
If the test comes out negative, you do not need to worry, just observe how the periods will be in the next few days, this irregularity may happen with stress (as it happened due to the fever you had). It is not anything to worry if periods are irregular for a month or two as long as you rule out pregnancy.
If you are bleeding much more than a usual period or if you have a positive pregnancy test you will need to see your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
