HI,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
*
Emergency contraceptive pill act by postponing the ovulation. / also making the cervical mucus more thick.. thus not allowing entry of sperm / avoiding penetration of ovum by sperm.
For good
contraception, emergency pills needs to be consumed within 72 hours of unprotected sex.Earlier it is taken better are the chances of contraception.
* Emergency contraceptives cause delay in normal menses by 8-10 days.
You have 22 days past the due date of your menses... so I doubt failure of contraception/ Some misunderstanding in taking pills
*
Pregnancy test by urine test is reliable after 8 days delay in menses. If you have tested it earlier/ or if you have
irregular periods.. the result may be wrong.. please repeat it again/ USG should show
gestational sac after 5 weeks of pregnancy.you can use the method to confirm/exclude pregnancy.
* IN case the pregnancy is excluded.. you need investigations to find cause for delayed period..Consult a gynecologist.
* In case pregnancy is confirmed you can get rid of the pregnancy by medicines. ( actually must be removed for fear of fetal anamoly after the contraceptive )
by using MT kit ( containing two types of pills Mifepristine &
Misoprostol) under expert guidance of a gynecologist
Thanks.
