General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Menstrual cycle tends to change after marriage due to hormonal changes in body. From that point of view you had unprotected sex was on 12th day of periods could be in periovulation time and cause pregnancy. Please check by home pregnancy test after 8 days delay in expected date of periods / blood pregnancy test earlier may be now itself. To exclude pregnancy and get medication for abortion if test is positive. Hence, forth start with regular contraceptives with your doctor's advise.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
