What Causes Delayed Periods Postpartum?

I am 39 with a 4 month old daughter. This was my 2nd c-section. I haven t gotten my period yet and have been off birth control since the 1st week of Aug. I am still having pains in my belly on and off and seem to be more tired than I should. Should I be concerned or be seen?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Delayed periods postpartum may occur due to breast feeding, hormonal imbalances, anemia, generalized weakness, stress, etc. You are suggested to take adequate rest. Take food rich in iron, calcium, protein and supplements. Avoid depression and stress (both physical and emotional).

To avoid pain in the belly take food in time, take small meals multiple times a day. Avoid spicy, oily, junk, packaged food. Take antacids for relieve. However, you are suggested to get a follow up clinical examination done to detect any pathology causing you discomfort post C-.S.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
