What Causes Delayed Periods While On HCG And Low Carb Diet?
Hi. I am 47 years old. My last period was the end of June 2016. I took a pregnancy test and It came back negative. I lost 20 pounds on the HCG Diet and am currently on a low carb diet. Should I be worried? Do I continue to take birth control pills? Thank you
It is good you already had a pregnancy test as pregnancy is the first thing to rule out when periods delay. I would recommend you watchful treatment, meaning see if you will have the periods in the next 1-2 months. Most of the women will have the periods in the following couple of months.
If the periods are not coming in a total of 3 months then tests are needed such as FSH (to check if you are entering menopause), TSH, FT4, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, prolactin, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
