What Causes Delayed Periods While On Microgestin Fe?

Hi, I m a female 28 years old, 116 lbs 5 feet and I m taking Microgestin Fe 1/20. I ve been skipping my periods by taking 3 consecutive packets and breaking once for my period. I took 4 or 5 consecutive packets last time and I still haven t gotten my period. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Just want to know if I should wait until i get my period to start a new packet or just keep taking the pills. I m on what should be day #2 of the new packet.

Hi,

Oral contraceptive pills need to be taken regularly without a break for prescribed length of time. If taken irregularly or continuously for few months, both the times they prove either ineffective/cause prolonged lack of menses due to hormonal imbalance. The way you used Microgestin was incorrect . It has caused hormonal imbalance. This has disturbed your menstrual cycle. In such case you need to wait for menses to return. If it does not in a months time consult a gynecologist for investigations, physical examination followed by specific management. Do not think of continuing the pills without periods & take pills for only 20 days followed by a break to allow break through bleeding.
