Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just started taking mononessa two days ago for the first time. I m currently on day three. I started on a Sunday which was the expected start date of my menstraul cycle. I haven t seen my menstraul cycle and it s been three days. I had a pregnancy test done at the hospital before I took the birth control. So could it be the birth control throwing off my menstraul cycle?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Mononessa is a combination birth control pill composed of Ethinylestradiol and Norgestimate. First pill should be taken on the first day of your period. Since you have started the pill before the periods started, you are not getting it now. Kindly stop the pills now and bleeding should happen by 5 to 7 days. Again you can start freshly on 1st day of bleeding and continue with it. You need to use additional contraceptives, like condoms and spermicidal agents during the first month.
Hope the information provided helps. All the best.
Regards.
