Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. It has come to my attention that my period is now 7 days late. I usually have a regular cycle of 28 days but I am now on the 36th. Mind you, my last cycle was 33 days and I was quite stressed during this time. My last period was May 9th-13th. It is now June 13th. I lost my virginity to my boyfriend on May 20th. We used a condom and he pulled out before he ejaculated. I also checked for tears/holes before and after intercourse. We have had sex a few times since then, and we always follow the same procedure. We also did not have any direct contact between genitalia. I am having my usual PMS symptoms such as tender breasts, slight cramping, and (sorry) constipation. Although every now and then the constipation goes away. I need peace of mind. Please help.
There are so many causes other than pregnancy which may cause delayed menses. The most common causes at your age is due to hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety, PCOD, thyroid disorder, anemia, diet changes, exercise, infection, ovarian cyst, birth control pills and infection. As you are not having any other symptoms you can wait for one more week and if you will not resume it than consult a gynecologist and get yourself examined and investigation done to rule out the above mentioned causes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
