What Causes Delayed Periods?
Hello doctor, my wife had her last periods on 14.June.2016 ..normally she seems to be running a 30 day or 31 day cycle and NOT 28 days cycle.. This month , she expected that her periods will start on 14th July but till now she has not got her period. We suspect that pregnancy is confirmed. We did 2 pregnancy tests (Urine tests) at home , first one on 15th and second one on 17th July but both tests showed negative.. Just wanted to know from you if we still need to wait for some more days to test or is it delayed periods?

Understand your concern
If you had unprotected sex during the unsafe period of cycle then high possibility of pregnancy. You did pregnancy test very early and this time ot give false negative test.
I advice you to wait for period to come. If period will be delayed by 8-10 days from normal expected period date. Then you have to go for urine pregnancy test and or Blood HCG to confirm the pregnancy.
Other wise occasionally delayed in period by 3-4 day is not normal.
Delayed period in absence of pregnancy is due to following reason:
Excessive stress, change in dietary habit and life style, hormonal imbalance, ovarian cyst and thyroid dysfunction.
All above cause should be rule out in absence of pregnancy by reportiong to gynecologist.
