Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there. I was sick with gastro 2 weeks ago exactly and missed 2 or 3 hormone pills. Husband and I had sex later on in the same week. It has been 12 days since sex, am 4 days late with my period. Have taken two tests which are negative. How soon would a test show an accurate answer seeing as I don t know dates of last period, or ovulation? Thanks :)
There are many causes of delayed periods and pregnancy is one of them. I would assume that you have taken a urinary pregnancy test at home. If you are pregnant then urinary pregnancy test usually becomes positive after 12-14 days of fertilization.
Even though chances of pregnancy are low, I would recommend repeating urinary pregnancy test one more time. a 4-day delay in your periods is not a significant delay, on the other hand, stress and anxiety about being pregnant itself can cause delays in your periods.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai, General & Family Physician
