Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think im late for my period. I took one of those dollar pregnancy tests and it came positive. I honestly was shocked. But,I smoked weed last night, and this morning I took a laxative and my prescribed adderall (generic version). Could this have maybe given me a false pregnancy. (Hope so).
I am afraid those factors which you mention do not influence pregnancy test results.
Those tests are based on detecting raised levels of the beta-HCG hormone in the urine and none of the substances you mention affect beta HCG levels.
So if you've had unprotected sex, are late with your period and with a positive pregnancy test, you may well be pregnant. Otherwise, you should do a blood test for pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olsi Taka, Neurologist
