General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
If your wife's temperature is 96.6, then she doesn't have pneumonia.
She may have sleep apnea, a condition that affects her breathing while sleeping, making her blue and also waking her up frightened or screaming.
I would suggest you to see a doctor. He will lead you to understand the right treatments available for this problem. She may need to lose weight, start exercises, change sleeping habits (position, time etc) and dietary changes as well.
This is a serious problem, because it can lead to asphyxiation and death.
I hope I have helped you to understand better your wife's condition.
Wish her good health!
